Tonight, Cnn's Bob Constantini relayed unconfirmed and undisputed reports that Senator Hillary Clinton gave her campaign for the Democratic nomination another infusion of cash.
Senator Clinton is locked in a tight race for the Democratic nomination that many believe will be largely determined tonight in the primary contests in Indiana and North Carolina.
The Clinton campaign has suffered through staff shake-ups and financial woes, spending the last few months in the red on their balance sheet. It has been reported widely that the campaign has had problems paying vendors and and finding enough funds to compete in television advertising, although staffers have claimed the earlier Pennsylvania contest, won by Clinton, produced record breaking donations through the campaigns website. Financial data is expected in the upcoming days.
Reports have circled the campaign for months, painting the culture of staff as divided and contentious. Long-time friend Patti Solis-Doyle was widely believed to have been forced out, and trusted director Mark Penn had to step down in early April after supporting a free trade deal with Columbia that was against the position of Senator Clinton.
At the time of this report the numbers of the contests are still being counted. It appears that it will go as expected: a strong win to Senator Obama in North Carolina and a narrower win for Senator Clinton in Indiana.
She's totally committed to win. She'll get all her money back whether she wins or loses. The Clintons have no problem raising cash, just problems doing it legally.
I'm an Obama supporter , but I have problems with bull@!$%# comments like that.
You don't know what your talking about.
Ego vs Lifestyle. Hmmmmmm.....
Please explain.
Ego: I keep going, no matter what the costs. I'm supposed to be President, dagblastit! How dare anyone get in my way? I'll spend my entire fortune and Chelsea's, too, if it'll get me into the White House again.
Lifestyle: What could I be doing with that $6m? Starting a foundation? Exploring ways to make the world a better place? Enjoying fancy parties? Drat that Al Gore for taking the Global Warming issue, but maybe I'll find something to make a world cause. Until then, I'll enjoy life....
These two are very savvy, very strong political opponents. If Obama were not in this race, Hillary would be the "hands down" Democrat candidate for this election. I don't know of any Democrat in this country than could beat her ... except Obama. These guys are engaged in a historical political battle that has captured the attention of the American Public. For once people are talking about things that matter and are involved in the things that are going to shape our future. Although it does not look good for Hillary, this race is not over yet, she will keep on fighting, and it probably will go to the convention and strange things happen at conventions. Whoever wins this race, will have demonstrated their political prowess and the ability to win. They will emerge as a candidate that defeated a strong opponent and that is what is needed as we move to the General Election. The important thing is to defeat McCain. We do not need 4 more years of Republicanism. Support Obama or support Hillary, but support the Democrats. (This, coming from a guy that has been enrolled as a republican for over 50 years!)
Good points, Jerry. I don't think its in Hillary's nature to give up.
Clinton the fat lady is singing. Go home, before you spend all Chelsea's inheritance.
Looks like she already spent Chelseas' inheritance.
Her campaign owes her 5 million dollars.
You can donate on her hillary.com website.
She'll make that money back in about six months on the rubber chicken honoraria circuit.....
